The Léman hope team has been working hard with many partners to enable more and more young people in recovery from cancer to participate in the sailing trips. Sports challenges, cultural events, personal donations, charity dinners or volunteering, there are many ways to support the cause! Here is a selection of our latest actions.
At the beginning of September, more than 200 swimmers jumped into the water to link Chillon to Geneva. This sporting challenge, co-organised this year by Swim4hope and Léman hope, aimed to collect donations in favour of children and young people suffering from cancer or in recovery. It is an honour for Léman hope to be at the heart of this incredible event, which brings together the values of surpassing oneself, mutual aid and confidence. A big thank you to the swimmers for their great involvement as well as to the companies that have involved their employees in this wonderful adventure.
Pushing one’s limits, accepting discomfort, learning from and with others and gaining confidence… This is what the swimmers of the “24 hours of swimming” experienced during the 8th and 9th October. More than 1’200 swimmers surpassed themselves for Léman hope. CHF 3’426, were raised for a total of the same amount in km! Congratulations to the swimmers for adding meaning to your annual challenge and thank you to Lausanne Aquatique for the trust.
On the same aquatic register, Realteam Sailing, whose sails carry the colours of Léman hope more than ever, won the last Grand Prix of the 2022 TF35’s season. Through its exploits, the sailing team is spreading the project’s touching message beyond its borders.
After the aquatic challenges, the Lausanne Marathon did us the honour of choosing Léman hope as its official charity. Our volunteer committee distributed 9’000 medals and 5’000 stickers on behalf of children in recovery from cancer. This is a great visibility for Léman hope and we are very grateful. “You did it for Léman hope!
Another active contribution: on the occasion of its 62nd lunch, the Ladies Lunch Committee of Lausanne gave us the lovely honour of supporting Léman hope. A great moment of emotion, especially during the testimony of Emma, 15 years old, a young beneficiary in our last edition. An assembly of ladies deeply touched by the cause of Léman hope raised CHF 48’000 for the warriors.
CHF 3’500 was also raised by the Rotary Club Vevey-Montreux-Riviera to support Léman hope! Their wish to help was fulfilled a few months later at the traditional St Martin’s Fair where club members sold bowls of soup to contribute to the Léman hope sailing trips. A huge thank you for this organisation, for your dedication and support, this is just the beginning of a beautiful relationship ❤️
The year 2022 ended on a highest. Indeed, on December 13 at the magnificent charity event “The Greatest for Léman hope” at the Olympic Museum, 39 portraits from the collection of the artist David Jamin were auctioned to support Léman hope. In addition to providing great visibility during the exhibition, the initiators of the project will donate 100% of the proceeds from the sale to support the sailing trips. A huge thank you to Rémi and Alexandra Duchemin who made us live an extraordinary adventure by allowing us to convey messages of hope ❤️ For the first time, a young beneficiary, Olivia, took the floor with her mum to testify in public about her experience and all the positive impact that the Léman hope sailing trips have brought her.
Whether you are an organiser, a runner, a swimmer, a volunteer or a supporter, thank you for having, in your own way, carried the message of hope of Léman hope. Thanks to you, young people in recovery from cancer will be able to join the 5-day, 4-night sailing trips on Lake Geneva to regain their self-confidence by living an incredible experience!
Léman hope wishes you a wonderful year 2023 and continues its mission: to support young people in recovery from cancer so that they can live life to the fullest!
